Thread veins on the face and legs respond well to treatment, and having both laser and microsclerotherapy available means we can match the method to the vein rather than making one approach fit everything.

What to expect

Most people need a course. Facial veins often clear in one to three sessions, while leg veins usually take more with results building gradually. Afterwards, expect some redness or slight swelling along the treated vessels for a day or two. Leg veins treated with microsclerotherapy may look slightly bruised initially, and compression stockings are sometimes recommended for a short period.

Worth knowing

New thread veins can develop over time, particularly on the face where sun exposure and genetics both play a part. Treating what is there now works well, and occasional maintenance keeps things clear. Leg veins are sometimes linked to underlying venous problems, and if we see signs of that at consultation we will point you towards proper assessment first.

Cost

Thread vein treatment starts from £125 per session, and microsclerotherapy from £100. Consultations with Dr Patel are £25, paid when you book. NHS staff receive 20% off a first treatment and 10% off treatments thereafter.

Treated veins do not return, though new ones can develop over time.

These are usually treated in separate appointments as the methods differ.
