How we remove them
Laser removal suits most skin tags. The laser removes the tag cleanly and seals as it works, which keeps bleeding to a minimum and helps the area heal neatly. Surgical removal is available for larger tags or where a different approach suits better, carried out by Dr Patel as part of our minor surgery service. At consultation we will confirm what you have and recommend which approach suits it.
What to expect
Appointments are short, generally fifteen to thirty minutes depending on how many tags are being removed. Local anaesthetic is used where needed, so the procedure is comfortable. Healing is quick, with a small scab forming and falling away over the following days, usually leaving very little trace. You go home with written aftercare instructions.
Assessment first
Skin tags are easily recognised, but other benign skin lesions can look similar and occasionally something needs a closer look. If anything requires further assessment, we will make sure you are pointed to the right place. Most of the time the answer is simply that it is a skin tag and can be removed.
Cost
Laser skin tag removal starts from £100. Surgical removal falls under our minor surgery service, starting from £500 per visit and including laboratory analysis. Consultations with Dr Patel are £25, paid when you book. NHS staff receive 20% off a first treatment and 10% off treatments thereafter.
