What we mean by medical grade
Products available over the counter are limited in the strength of active ingredients they can contain. Medical grade products, dispensed through a clinic, work at concentrations that produce measurable change. That strength is also why they should be prescribed rather than picked off a shelf, since retinoids, acids and pigment inhibitors are all excellent when matched to the right skin and introduced properly.
How we approach it
Skincare is part of your consultation rather than a sales conversation at the end of it. We look at your skin, ask what you are already using and talk through what you want to improve. From there we recommend a routine that is realistic for your life, because a simple routine you follow every day achieves more than an elaborate one you abandon. If what you are already using is working, we will tell you to carry on with it.
What good skincare does
It extends your treatment results, since laser, peels and injectables all last longer when the skin is looked after properly between appointments. It prepares skin for treatment, particularly where pigmentation is involved. It protects your investment, because sun exposure undoes pigmentation results faster than anything else. And for some concerns, the right products are the whole answer and no treatment is needed at all.
Getting started
You do not need to book a treatment to get skincare advice. Come in, talk to a clinician about your skin and leave with a routine that makes sense for you. Consultations with Dr Patel are £25, paid when you book.
